The KMI Airport team was made up of Mbongeni Mashigo; Petrus Makuwa ; Petrus Makhubedu; Andile Nkosi; Eleck Mogane; and Lesley Mashego. The Warrior Race incorporates trail running along with various physical challenges in the form of obstacles. The event has struck a chord with adventure-loving South Africans, presenting a physical and mental challenge, turning everyday people into warriors in the spirit of overcoming adversity which is why we felt a need to participate. The voice of the WARRIOR RACE, fondly known to all as Warrior Ric, got the athletes into the zone at the start with encouragement from the crowds and the camaraderie between athletes, the race stood up to its reputation it has become renowned for. Set against a backdrop of pristine bushveld, hills, mud, water and tough obstacles, the team ran and worked together over each obstacle to finish in a remarkable time of 1:27:20, securing positions 48 to 53 out of 502 participants. We are extremely proud of our Fire and Rescue Services team and look forward to next year’s event.
